One of the corporate owned car washes is attached to a very good quick oil change place. Lots of the guys there do track days and SCCA events. I get a 60% employee discount so the Pennzoil ultra platinum doubl e pure plus diamond cash money swiggity swooty oil change is......40$.
Or basically for the cost of the filter and oil I get the high end oil change, and I get a light servicing with all my doors getting some lubricant, the filters and fluids get a quick check and the brakes and undercarriage get a visual inspection.
Honestly I think this perk is the one I like most of all. Way more than the decent health insurance (on the blue cross blue shield plan) or the constant access to car care chemicals.

I don’t think I’ve even seen the Ultra Platinum before. What’s the difference there? Labels give nothing away here.

Near as I can tell, it was made using natural gas (methane) as a base and was combined and reacted to the desired molecular weights. So it is a highly controlled synthetic oil for the exact ranges they want. Conventional oil is derived from crude and typical syntehtic is petroleum distilaltes that are then isolated and purified but this is supposed to be a much more pure way to get the desired oil. Honestly I don’t know the exact difference it makes but I paid walmart oil prices for this stuff to be installed by guys who were chatting with me about their track days with their b-series civic hatches and NA and NB miatas.

The fact of the matter is, the moment it’s fed to an older Subaru, you already know it’s going to disappear...

Well that’s a hell of an explanation. Does it make my engine invincible?

Only if it’s a small block chevy.

Or if it’s an older VW/Audi , you’re paying top dollar prices to have a very expensive stain on your driveway.

My 03 WRX just drinks that shit up!

03 WRX. It gets around an entire new oil fill up by the time I replace the filter

Try a ‘98 OBW with the EJ25D. Oil just disappears.

Man after seeing the oil after Penzoil oil changes, you couldn’t pay me to put Penzoil in my vehicles....

Mybe the most basic of basic Pennzoil products but I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Platinum line. I've seen a fair number of people post blackstone oil ana lysis results to prove it. Also what does that mean seeing it after? If it’s darker than others that could mean any number of things. It might even mean it works better to collect crud and blow- by than other oils.

FCA recommends/supplies all their vehicles with it. Its all I stock, and run in my FCA-mobiles.

Might have something to do with FCA issues...........
Jokes aside, after seeing the oil on vehicles that have had Penzoil run in them, I’ll stay far away. When you pull the drain plug after 5k you shouldn’t be able to count to 5 before getting a glop, followed by black sludge.

Pull drain plug after 5k, count to 5, watch glob of sludge followed by black gooey oil come out.
Sorry, no one is going to tell me that’s a good thing. Switched those vehicles to different oils, never had another issue even after tacking on another 100k.

If that’s what you do for your vehicle, then you do you. Your fleet tends to be older IIRC so it’s not at all surprising that they have preferences. But I don’t drive chrysler minivans so I’ll roll the dice this time around :P

2 of those were modern EB engines, not of my fleet.
1 of those was an old 300 I6, which are far from picky engines.
The other was my old Acclaim which we bought from her dad.
I prefer not rolling the dice when it comes to my vehicle’ s maintenance.

Don’t know what you/they/the world did but you are the only pe rson I;ve heard say anything like this. So it’d be rolling the dice to go with the one exception rather than the positive reports with evidence.
Plus that sounds like an issue one would have with conventional oil, where this is the full synthetic.

Idk, none were abused, oil changed regularly.
Either way, if this is what they’re Conventional does, I’ll just prefer to use something else thanks.
